Politicians on Sanjay Dutt's verdict

November 28, 2006 14:31 IST

Bharatiya Janata Party [ Images ] leader and Rajya Sabha MP Shatrughan Sinha [ Images ] on Tuesday said he was satisfied that the TADA court did not find Sanjay Dutt [ Images ] guilty of the conspiracy charge leveled against him in the 1993 Mumbai [ Images ] serial blasts case.

Soon after the judgment, Sinha said, "I have always supported Sanjay Dutt. I am happy that he has been acquitted of conspiracy charges," he said.

Samajwadi Party general secretary Amar Singh [ Images ], while hailing the court verdict, said, "I have known Sunil Dutt sahib and Sanjay. He is not the kind of person who would conspire against the nation. I am glad the court has given him a clean chit on that count," he said.

BJP leader Sushma Swaraj [ Images ] and Congress' Abhishek Singhvi, both advocates, chose to restrict their comments to the basics.

They welcomed the judgment and said that until a superior court sets aside the judgment, Dutt would have to undergo whatever punishment is handed out to him.
