The Supreme Court on Monday asked the Governments of Tamil Nadu and Kerala not to play with the hopes and emotions of the people on the contentious issue of raising the water level of the Mullaiperiyar Dam.
The court advised the two chief ministers to participate in the scheduled meeting on November 29 to resolve the dispute.
"We have no doubt that in the scheduled meeting both the chief ministers, like real statesman, would bestow considerations required in the larger perspective and hopefully the matter will be sorted out," a bench headed by Chief Justice Y K Sabharwal said.
