Delhi Police have begun a 'parallel investigation' into the sensational abduction of a top businessman's son in neighbouring Noida taking into view the possibility of the kidnappers sneaking into the capital.
The anti-kidnapping wing of the Crime Branch and Special Cell have been alerted and are on the job collecting inputs about the activities of various criminal gangs operating in the capital, a senior police official said.
"There is a possibility of the kidnappers sneaking into the capital as Delhi. We are also not ruling out the possibility of the involvement of criminals here in the abduction," he said.
Anant, the son of the CEO of Adobe Systems Naresh Gupta, was abducted by two motorcycle-borne youths on Monday while he was waiting for his school bus outside his residence along with the family's maid servant.
"We are trying to activate the criminal intelligence network to find out which gang is involved in the abduction," a senior Special Cell officer told PTI even as a hunt is on by the Uttar Pradesh police to trace the three-year-old boy. Police officers here say investigation into cases like kidnapping was an informal process and was based largely on developing various inputs.
"We are working from our point of view and are in touch with our sources," the officer added. The Special Task Force of the Uttar Pradesh Police has also dispatched teams to various places on the basis of clues provided by the maid servant and other domestic helps and security guards of the area.
