Three self-styled Lashkar-e-Tayiba commanders were killed in a fierce gun battle with troops and police in Doda district, official sources said in Jammu on Thursday.
On specific information, a joint party of police and army launched a cordon and search operation in Tanta-draman forest area in the district, sources told PTI.
The 3 LeT militants were killed in the operation late Wednesday night, they said, adding that the two bodies had been recovered even as the search operation was on. The slain militants have been identified as Ashiq Hussain and Shabir Ahmed, both LeT section commanders.
Body of the area commander Saifullah is yet to be traced. Troops seized three AK assault rifles, one SLR, three magazines and three SLR magazines from the spot, they added.
Meanwhile, militants killed an Army jawan and injured his neighbour in an attack on his house in a remote hamlet in Rajouri district.
Two militants barged into the house of jawan Mohammad Amin of 1 Jammu and Kashmir Light Infrantry in Nud Mohra village early Thursday morning and pumped bullets in his chest, officials told PTI, adding that the jawan died on the spot while his neighbour Fiyaz Hussain was injured, they added.
