Promising a corruption free, honest and transparent administration in Tamil Nadu, the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazagham Tuesday said it would work for up-gradation of economic and social status of Tamils, if voted back to power, in the May 8 polls.
Quoting social reformer Periyar E V Ramaswamy, the party, in its manifesto said "pride and knowledge are prime for human beings" and the party would strive for implementing the goals of Periyar.
"An able administration, honest approach, impartial judiciary, upgradation of quality of life and peaceful and secured life to the people of the state are our goals and we promise to achieve this," it said.
The manifesto also promised to put a "full stop to artificial scarcity of essential commodities, like LPG, created by wrong and anti-people policies of the Centre".
Coming down heavily on the Congress-led UPA coalition at the Centre, it said scams had become the order of the day.
It also came down heavily on the UPA allies from Tamil Nadu, whom it charged with blocking the development of the state.
In its manifesto for Pondicherry, the AIADMK said it would work for securing special statehood status to the Union Territory besides assuring that the much-delayed local body elections would be held if it was elected to power.
The party's manifesto, released by Jayalalithaa in Chennai, also sought the people's mandate for making Pondicherry a peaceful state, developing its economy, ushering in technological revolution and overall development.
Stating that despite having an assembly, all powers rested with the Lt Governor, making it a necessity to approach the Lt Governor for every small issue, the party promised to get special statehood status so that policy decisions and schemes could be implemented as in other states.
The party, contesting 16 of the total 30 seats, would also bring in a "Goondas Act" like the one in Tamil Nadu to curb 'spread of bomb culture'. Similarly the Usury Prevention Act and an act to prevent video piracy would also be enacted in Pondicherry, the manifesto said.
It promised to set up new industrial units, including an IT park, to provide employment to the youth and a "weavers' welfare board" while giving an impetus to tourism.
Alleging that the Pattali Makkal Katchi leadership was trying to make the JIPMER (a medical institute) a family property under the guise of according it autonomous status, it said the AIADMK would foil the attempt keeping in view the interest of 3,000 employees of the premier health institute.
The party would also secure Cauvery water to the Karaikal region.
