Congress chief Sonia Gandhi Tuesday arrived in Rae Bareli, on her first visit to the constituency she had resigned as member of Parliament, to a rapturous welcome from her supporters and party activists.
Dressed in a cream-coloured printed saree, Sonia waved to her supporters from her Tata Safari as they showered her with flower petals.
Her motorcade guarded by the Special Protection Group and trailed by numerous cars and motorcycles passed through large swathes of fields with schoolchildren lining across holding party flags.
Her supporters erected numerous welcome gates draped with the party tricolour as Sonia travelled into Rae Bareli after she quit her Lok Sabha seat over the office of profit controversy.
