An anonymous telephone call claimed that a bomb had been placed at Dadar railway station in central Mumbai, but it turned out to be a hoax.
Police received an anonymous call claiming an unclaimed bag containing a bomb was lying on platform number one and the bomb squad was rushed to the spot.
Sniffer dogs were taken around the platform on the Western Railway section and the bag was located, police said adding, but only worn out clothes were recovered from the bag.
All local trains were diverted from platform number one to platform number three at Dadar railway station for a brief while during the peak evening hours when office goers were returning home.
Security has been beefed up at Dadar and other railway stations following the incident.
Police had on March 11 found an explosive substance in a bottle lying in a toilet of Byculla railway station in central Mumbai. Forensic report in this regard is awaited.
