The Communist Party of India (Marxist), on Thursday, ruled out resignation of its MPs despite Congress president Sonia Gandhi's resignation over the controversial issue of holding an office of profit.
"Our MPs will not resign," party general secretary Prakash Karat told reporters shortly after Gandhi announced her decision. He also said the party will issue a statement on her resignation later.
Karat, whose party is a crucial supporting ally of the ruling United Progressive Alliance, said the government will not bring any ordinance on the issue of office of profit and that Parliament would decide the matter.
