The Communist Party of India [ Images ] (Marxist), on Thursday, ruled out resignation of its MPs despite Congress president Sonia Gandhi's [ Images ] resignation over the controversial issue of holding an office of profit.
"Our MPs will not resign," party general secretary Prakash Karat [ Images ] told reporters shortly after Gandhi announced her decision. He also said the party will issue a statement on her resignation later.
Karat, whose party is a crucial supporting ally of the ruling United Progressive Alliance [ Images ], said the government will not bring any ordinance on the issue of office of profit and that Parliament would decide the matter.
