Is English killing other Indian languages?

Noted author U R Ananthamurthy recently said English is "killing the thirst for knowledge" in India and that the situation called for immediate steps to inculcate the love of the local language in school-going children.

The Jnanpith Award winner also said that globalisation is forcing us to become unilingual.
