Resident doctors in Maharashtra Sunday warned of taking their agitation nationwide as the strike by the medicos entered the seventh day.
"We are planning a nation-wide coordinated 'Black Day' protest to condemn the ill-treatment," a senior functionary of Maharashtra Association of Resident Doctors told PTI in Mumbai Sunday.
"We have received encouraging response from resident doctors in Delhi, Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu and Rajasthan," he said.
Altogether 150 of the total 1,400 striking registered resident doctors (post-graduate students) and 198 resident medical officers of Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation hospitals in Mumbai were given orders of termination till Saturday, Additional Municipal Commissioner V Patankar said, no notices were issued Sunday, he added.
President of MARD Dr Srikant Pandit told reporters the doctors would continue their strike till their "simple" demands on security and stipend are given assurance in writing legally.
