The Vishwa Hindu Parishad on Friday termed the U C Banerjee report on the 2002 Sabarmati Express train carnage in Godhra as 'politicially motivated'.
The Justice Banerjee Commission had come out with an interim report on the findings of the train carnage just before the elections in Bihar last year. This was pointed out by VHP general secretary Praveen Togadia. He added that this year, too, it has come up with the final report when many states in the country are going in for Assembly elections.
Togadia said the report has meted out 'injustice to all the relatives of those passengers killed in the Sabarmati Express and it is politcally motivated'. He added that the report had no legal standing and the Nanavati-Shah Commission was probing the incident.
