Hansdehar village in the Jind district of Haryana has become the first village in the country to log on to the information superhighway with the launch of a website on Monday that contains its history, legislative, education, health and other parameters.
The website of the 'first model Internet village' -- www.smartvillages.org -- launched by Haryana Governor A R Kidwai presents a holistic picture of the habitation with detailed statistics on varied areas ranging from government setup, village panchayat, infrastructure on basic amenities, electricity, water, roads and irrigation.
Complete Citizen Directory, covering house number, names of the villagers, father name, sex, education, occupation, category, ration card number, driving license number, religious places, tourist attractions, transport facilities, ongoing development schemes, public announcements and village problems and suggestions, have been included in the website.
Speaking on this occasion, Kidwai appreciated the efforts of the non-governmental organisations, which compiled the data. The information will be of immense help for the officers and the government in formulating plans for development of that area, he said.
As Haryana emerges as a model state in the country with speedy industrialisation and highest per capita income, this type of data from the grassroot level will further boost the development process, Kidwai said.
With the launching this website, the Haryana government's vision to take IT to the villages has also been accomplished, he said. Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda was also present on the occasion.
