Tension prevailed in the Rameswaram coastal village after a fisherman sustained injuries in firing by the Sri Lankan Navy off Dhanushkoti coast early Sunday.
Police said the fisherman, Nambirajan, has been admitted to the Ramanathapuram government hospital.
About 800 Tamil fishermen were fishing in mid sea when the Sri Lankan Navy fired at them, police said.
A case has been registered by the Rameswaram police.
