Reacting to Monday morning's grenade blasts, which left one person dead and 20 injured, the Bharatiya Janata Party has criticised the United Progressive Alliance government for its 'soft policies' towards terrorists.

"We condemn this dastardly and cowardly terrorist act. The soft policies of the UPA government have encouraged terrorists to have a free run and strike at will. This is having a demoralising effect on security forces," said Prakash Javadekar, BJP spokesman.

CPI leader D Raja, while condemning the attack, asked the government to strengthen security arrangements in Jammu and other places. "But such attacks should not prevent us from continuing our discussions with Pakistani authorities and the leaders of Jammu and Kashmir," he said, over the phone from Chennai.
