Chairman of the breakaway faction of Hurriyat Conference Syed Ali Shah Geelani was on Friday arrested when he was heading towards Rajouri district in Jammu and Kashmir, official sources said.
Geelani, who was scheduled to address a Friday congregation at Rajouri town and Thanamandi, was arrested at Chingus, 90 km from Jammu, they said.
The firebrand separatist leader arrived in Jammu on Thursday on a three-day visit to border districts of Rajouri and Poonch. He was taken to a police station and would be released in the evening, sources said.
