Two days after blasts rocked seven Mumbai suburban trains, the Western Railway has installed closed circuit cameras in seven stations.

It also plans to hire a security agency to improve surveillance.

Western Railway General Manager Rajkamal Rao said the cameras have been installed at Churchgate, Mumbai Central, Dadar, Bandra, Bandra terminus, Andheri and Borivali.

He said the security agency will suggest a tailor-made security setup to equip the Railways against terrorist attacks and protect its vital installations.

"We intend to hire an expert security agency and create an international-standard security setup that will be the best in the country. A time-bound programme will be undertaken in consultation with the agency," Rao said.

He added that the number of sniffer dogs in the squad has been tripled.

Extra paramilitary forces have been deployed at railway stations in view of the present situation, he said, adding that baggage checking and frisking have been intensified.
