The Centre will provide all assistance to relatives of the victims of West Bengal tourists in bringing back the bodies of those killed in Tuesday's grenade attack by terrorists at Dalgate in Srinagar, Defence Minister Pranab Mukherjee said in Kolkata.

Mukherjee's statement came in the wake of Chief Minister Buddhadeb Bhattacharya's reportedly referring to Prime Minister Manmohan Singh the issue of the terrorist attack on West Bengal's tourists.

The chief minister had a 30-minute meeting with the prime minister at Raj Bhavan during the latter's brief visit to West Bengal on Tuesday.

Sources close to Mukherjee said the defence minister assured state Chief Minister Buddhadeb Bhattacharya that whatever assistance was required by the relatives of the victims would be provided by the Centre.

Mukherjee also assured the chief minister that the Centre would do its best to help victims' relatives and take adequate security measures for tourists visitng J&K, sources said.
