The Central Bureau of Investigation on Monday filed a charge sheet in the naval war room leak case against four former defence officials including a commander who is alleged to be one of the kingpins in the scandal.
The charge sheet, filed in the court of Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Kanwaljeet Arora, also names sacked naval commanders Vijender Rana and V K Jha and former Air Force Wing Commander S L Surve along with Commander Kulbushan Parashar.
They were charged under Section 120 B (criminal conspiracy) of the Indian Penal Code and corresponding sections of the Official Secrets Act. The court posted the matter for hearing on July 10.
The charge sheet was filed three days before the lapse of the mandatory 90 days, failing which the accused would have stood a chance to get bail.
The CBI did not name two other accused arrested, Raj Rani Jaiswal and Mukesh Bajaj, in the charge sheet and informed the court that further investigations are on against them and it may file a supplementary charge sheet against them soon.
The CBI has termed Ravi Shankaran, a relative of Navy Chief Arun Prakash, as a 'proclaimed offender' in the charge sheet.
He is also alleged to be one of the key players in the naval war room leak case.
