All India Congress Committee general secretary in charge of Karnataka A K Antony Thursday expressed doubts over the survival of the Congress-Janata Dal-Secular coalition government in the state, even as he asserted that his party would try its best to prevent the Bharatiya Janata Party from gaining foothold in Karnataka.

"It is a very big question mark," Antony told reporters after a meeting with Chief Minister Dharam Singh, when asked about the continuance of the coalition government.

Antony has been sent to Bangalore as the party emissary to find a solution to the political imbroglio in the state.

"Till the last minute, the Congress would try to save the government and prevent the BJP from gaining foothold in Karnataka," Antony said.

"However, I do not know what will happen Friday when the chief minister is seeks a vote of confidence," he said.
