In a highly expected move, Janardhan Dwivedi, Congress member of Parliament and a Sonia Gandhi loyalist, today requested Rahul Gandhi to address the All India Congress Committee gathering to pacify the delegates who were keen to see and hear him.
Rahul Gandhi reluctantly (again, expectedly) came to the dais and without waiting for niceties like address party president Sonia Gandhi or Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, merely said, "As Dwivediji has said, I'll give my talk tomorrow, and till that time will sit there (among the crowd)."
Congressmen who wanted to see him on the dais, suggesting his induction into the party's top leadership, find Rahul Gandhi's low-profile mind-boggling.
