The Election Commission on Saturday said the date for resolution of all grievances relating to voter list in poll-bound West Bengal had been shifted to January 24 from the earlier date of January 16 to attend to more complaints.
Chief Election Officer Debasish Sen told reporters in Kolkata that all election officials in the districts had been intimated about the new dates and asked to resolve all complaints by that date.
"Teams have been formed in the districts and they have fanned out to do primarily three things - Deal with all the complaints received by the 19 poll observers, resolve all previous complaints and cross check complaints made by recognised political parties," he said.
Sen said all other dates in the poll process remained as per schedule, including the date for final publication of the voter list on February 15. The Election Commission had also sought to know the examination schedules of universities in the state in order to set a convenient poll date.
"The Commission has asked for examination schedules of universities. According to the schedules, the final date of election will be decided," he added.
