Police on Wednesday rescued two sons of a businessman from Batarwa village under Barauli police station of Gopalganj district; the boys had been kidnapped for ransom and were in captivity for a week.

The police said the sons of textile merchant Shyam Sunder Prasad, a resident of Madhopur bazar, were picked up by criminals at gunpoint on January 3.

The vehicle used for committing the crime was spotted on Tuesday at Baluhi village and, on the basis of clues provided by the driver, police raided the hideouts of the captors and rescued the boys.
