Promising an effective solution to the problems faced by tsunami survivors in the islands dotting the Andaman and Nicobar Archipelago, Prime Minister Manmohan Singh will visit the Car Nicobar Island on Wednesday to review rehabilitation work there.
On the second day of his three-day visit to the Andaman and Nicobar where 5,000 people perished in the killer waves last year, Dr Singh will visit the Car Nicobar Island, one of the worst-hit areas by tsunami, to pay his tributes at the Tsunami Memorial and lay the foundation stone for a stadium.
He will also interact with the tribal leaders and lay the foundation stone for a hostel in Campbell Bay Island.
Later in the day, the prime minister will place a wreath at theĀ Indian Air Force air-base, which was ravaged by the giant waves that killed scores of Air Force personnel.
