Former External Affairs Minister K Natwar Singh was questioned for the second day on Saturday by the Enforcement Directorate, which is probing the Indian angle in the oil-for-food scam.
Sources in the ED said Singh was questioned for two hours during which clarifications were sought about some documents which the Directorate had procured from Jordan and Iraq. The former minister was questioned by the ED for about two hours on Friday.
Volcker report: The Indian link
The ED had issued him summons to appear before it "as per his convenience."
The Directorate is inquiring into the Indian connections in the scam brought out by the Volcker Committee report.
ED officials had questioned Andaleep Sehgal, director of Hamdan Exports, who was mentioned in Volcker probe report on Iraq's oil-for-food programme, and Jagat, Zaidi and Aneil Matherani, India's former envoy to Croatia, several times as part of their investigations.
The sources said the Directorate has taken this step on the basis of progress made in its probe into the dealings of Indians with the ousted Saddam Hussein regime in Iraq in the oil-for-food programme under the aegis of the UN between 1996 and 2003.
