Adopting a cautious stand on whether to retain his party's alliance with Bharatiya Janata Party for the next assembly polls, Karnataka Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy on Monday said the issue will be addressed by Janata Dal (Secular) president and his father H D Deve Gowda and other national office-bearers.

"JD-S and BJP have now formed the government to give thrust to development. Issues like forging ties with BJP in the next assembly polls will be decided by president Deve Gowda and national office bearers," he told reporters.

Kumaraswamy's clarification comes in the wake of reports quoting him as saying that JD-S ties with BJP will continue in the next assembly elections as well. Gowda had been opposing his son's decision to align with BJP in forming the government after pulling down the Congress-led coalition government.

Gowda had also threatened disciplinary action against his party rebels, including Kumaraswamy.
