Upset over the government's stand in the International Atomic Energy Agency and its decision to go ahead with modernisation of airports by private developers, the Left parties are meeting in New Delhi Sunday and are likely to come out with a strong reaction.
Sources in the Left parties said the meeting will come out with a "strong message" to the government that they should not be taken for granted.
The parties, which account for 61 members of Parliament in the Lok Sabha, feel that the government should have at least abstained from voting at the IAEA meeting in Vienna, a demand they have been making, instead of supporting the resolution for referring Iran's nuclear programme to the United Nations Security Council.
They point out that there have been divisions within the non-aligned camp and there has been no international consensus on the issue.
On the other issue of airport modernisation, the sources said the parties were angry that the government was ignoring their stiff opposition to "privatisation" and going ahead with its own agenda in violation of the Common Minimum Programme of the United Progressive Alliance coalition.
Sunday's meeting will consider all these issues and come out with a reaction to tell the government in clear terms that they cannot take the Left parties for granted.
