The Janata Dal (Secular)-Bharatiya Janata Party government is committed to protecting communal harmony without giving scope for any differences between the two parties, Karnataka Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy said on Friday.

Brushing aside a question on how the government would handle it if the BJP pursued its agenda on Bababudanagiri, a Hindu-Muslim shrine in Chikmagalur district which the Sangh Parivar outfits allege was being 'Islamised', he said, "We will take care of it."

Backward classes, smaller groups and minorities need not have apprehensions about their safety and security, said Kumaraswamy, who has joined hands with BJP against the wishes of his father H D Deve Gowda.

Bajrang Dal and BJP have been raking up the Bababudanagiri issue for some years now, demanding that Hindus be given the right to worship at the shrine.
