A month after a South African model was allegedly raped by two persons in a hotel, police has filed a chargesheet, charging the accused with various offences under the Indian Penal Code.

The 27-year-old model was allegedly drugged and taken from hotel Bawa International in suburban Bandra to another hotel in nearby Ulhasnagar town on December 27 last year and raped by the accused before being dropped home the next day.

The 200-page chargesheet, filed in the court on Wednesday, charges the accused - Suresh Krishnani and Sunil Morpani - with IPC sections 347 (wrongful confinement), 366 (kidnapping a woman to seduce her), 376(1)(g) (gang rape), 324 (causing hurt with dangerous weapon), 328 (administering drugs), 354 (assaulting a woman to molest her) and 292 (sale of obscene books).

Of these, three offences - gang rape, kidnapping woman to seduce her and administering drugs - are non-bailable.

Police filed the chargesheet much before the three-month deadline as investigations in the case were over, a senior police officer said. The South African model has gone back to her native place and would come down to Mumbai when the trial begins, police said.

Meanwhile, Krishnani has applied for bail in the sessions court saying investigations were over and his custody was not required. However, the prosecution and the advocate for the victim have opposed Krishnani's bail plea, saying that the accused were influential and might tamper with evidence.
