After signing a law to allow civil nuclear cooperation between the US and India, President George W Bush on Wednesday said atomic power would be key source of electricity in future in India and China and it makes a lot of sense to share technology.

Addressing a press conference in Washington, DC, he said nuclear energy has a number of benefits and pointed out that it is a renewable source and does not produce green house gases.

"Nuclear power is going to be the essential source of future electricity in the US and places like India and China," said Bush, who on Monday signed into law a bill providing for civil nuclear cooperation between New Delhi and Washington.

"It makes a lot of sense to share technology that will enable people to feel confident that nuclear plants built are safe," he said, adding that it will also enable use of technology to reduce wastes and toxicity of wastes.
