Late Bharatiya Janata Party leader Pramod Mahajan's son Rahul on Tuesday wed airline pilot Shweta Singh in a simple ceremony at Worli locality of Mumbai.
The marriage ceremony took place at 11.31 am.
The function was attended by senior BJP leader L K Advani, Agriculture Minister Sharad Pawar, Maharashtra Chief Minister Vilasrao Deshmukh, Union Minister Praful Patel, former Jammu and Kashmir chief minister Farooq Abdullah, Uttar Pradesh BJP leader Kalraj Mishra and industrialists Anil Ambani and Rahul Bajaj.
Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister R R Patil, Public Works Minister Chhagan Bhujbal, Shiv Sena executive president Uddhav Thackeray and Maharashtra Navnirman Sena president Raj Thackeray also attended the wedding, which took place as per the 'bramha' rituals.
'Mangalashtakas' were also recited at the beginning of the wedding, family sources said.
Former Maharashtra deputy chief minister and senior BJP leader Gopinath Munde, Rahul's mother Rekha and sister Poonam greeted the guests. Munde is married to Mahajan's sister Pradnya.
No elaborate arrangements were made for the wedding in the wake of the recent death of Pramod Mahajan, the subsequent arrest of Pravin, the brother of the slain leader, and the arrest of Rahul in a drug abuse case.
No one from Pravin's family was present at the wedding. Meanwhile, a Delhi court had on Monday allowed Rahul to travel abroad for his honeymoon.
