Three of the five Akhil Bhartiya Vidyarthi Parishad activists accused in connection with the death of a Ujjain professor were arrested on Monday, the police have said.
The three -- identified as Satish Sharma, Parmanand Bhargav and Gagan Singh Raghuvanshi -- were arrested on Monday morning in connection with the incident that happened on August 26.
Professors H S Sabharwal and M L Nath had cancelled the Madhav College students' union elections following allegations of irregularities, leading to a fight with the activists.
Two others, Sudhir Yadav and Hemant Dubey, were arrested on Sunday, the police said.
Sabharwal's death prompted a series of allegations and counter allegations between the National Students Union of India and ABVP workers, sources said.
An autopsy report confirmed that two of Sabharwal's ribs were broken and that his lungs had bled, causing his death.
A magisterial probe was ordered into the incident, while three cases were registered for Sabharwal's murder and that for manhandling of Nath.
