The Maharastra police on Friday arrested two suspects from north Kashmir's Kupwara district in connection with the July 11 serial bombings in Mumbai.

Identified as Ghulam Mohammed Mir and Abdul Ahad Khan, the two local suspects were arrested from their native district, a senior police officer told rediff.com.

While giving out details about the arrests, the officer said that the Mumbai police had been conducting raids in the Kupwara district for the past week to nab the suspects.

"The Mumbai police will seek the transit remand from a local court on Saturday, after which the two accused will be shifted to Mumbai for interrogation," the officer said.

Early this month, the Jammu and Kashmir police, on specific information, arrested a youth from Poonch district in Jammu region.

He was working as a security guard in a private company in Mumbai and his identity card was found near one of the blast sites.
