Telangana Rashtra Samithi members on Wednesday obstructed the proceedings of Andhra Pradesh Legislative Assembly, forcing its adjournment for the day.
Earlier, the House was adjourned three times amid furore created by TRS members. All 26 TRS members were present in the House but some dissident members did not join the chorus of vocal protests by their partymen.
Trouble started as soon as the assembly sitting commenced at 8.30 am. TRS members rushed towards the podium as soon as Speaker K R Suresh Reddy disallowed the adjournment notices given by various parties on different issues.
The TRS members had given the adjournment notice for discussing the Telangana issue and for adopting a resolution in the assembly favouring a separate Telangana state. Raising full-throated slogans of 'Jai, Jai Telangana,' the agitated members stormed into the well of the House holding placards accusing the Congress of betraying the people of the region. Some TRS members went to the podium and argued with the Speaker.
Within five minutes, the Speaker adjourned the House for 10 minutes. When the House re-assembled after some time, the Speaker was forced to adjourn the assembly for the second time within few minutes as TRS members created a furore.
Once again, when the House re-assembled, the TRS members persisted in their protests, forcing the Speaker to adjourn the House for the third time. When the House re-assembled again, TRS members obstructed the proceedings, leading to the adjournment of the House for the day.
