A bid to blow up vehicles passing through Doda was foiled on Monday, as security personnel recovered an Improvised Explosive Device planted beneath the Doda-Dessa road, officials said.
The militants' bid to trigger blasts was foiled early Monday morning as security personnel, who were on a routine sanitisation operation, recovered the IED packed in a cooker beneath the Doda-Dessa road at Akbarabad.
Traffic was stopped and the pressure cooker containing 5 kg of IED was defused, they said, adding that a major plan of the militants to trigger blasts targetting security forces was foiled.
Meanwhile, thousands of police and paramilitary personnel, including sharp shooters, have been deployed in the state in the run-up to the Independence Day celebrations following reports of possible terrorist strikes during the event.
