I am safe, how about you?
After five days of devastating floods, the more than 3.5 million residents of Surat are greeting each other for surviving an unimaginable tragedy.
Surtis, who have come out on the streets today after five gruelling days, are blaming the Gujarat government for remaining insensitive to their plight.
Even at the time of filing this report, around 40 per cent of Surat remains inaccessible by road and otherwise.
As Prime Minister Manmohan Singh is about to land in Surat, areas like Rander, Adajan, Katargaum, Ved, Kadarsha ni Nal, Nanpura, Pal and Piplod are under four to five feet of water.
For the last five days these areas were under 15 to 20 feet of water, with no government machinery around to lend a helping hand.
