Three army soldiers were killed in two separate encounters in south Kashmir's Anantnag on Monday.
Police sources said four other persons including a civilian and three Rashtriya Rifles troopers were wounded in the two encounters.
"During a combing operation in a village in Anantnag, two hiding militants fired at the cordoning troops, injuring three soldiers and a local villager. One of the injured soldiers later succumbed to his injuries," an officer said.
Early in the morning, troops of 62 Rashtriya Rifles started a cordon and search operation in the Waripora village, 75 kilometers from Srinagar, but the militants fired at the troops killing two soldiers and wounding another.
