The Uttar Pradesh police on Friday arrested Asit Gupta another organiser of the Meerut Trade Fair, which was gutted in a devastating fire on April 10, killing about 55 people.
The arrest came a day after the main culprit Lakhan Tomar was arrested by the UP police.
According to police sources, Gupta was arrested from a nursing home on Friday. After recording his statement, he will be produced in the court. Tomar has beem sent to 14-day judicial custody after he was produced in the court late on Thursday.
Both the organisers were at large since the incident took place.
They had been charged with an attempt to murder after the remaining organisers filed a case against them in court.
The death toll in the incident has now reached 55 after two more people succumbed to the injuries.
The number of injured is being put at 78. Of these 78, 40 are undergoing treatment in Meerut and 38 others in various hospitals of Delhi, Noida and Ghaziabad.
