Bollywood actress Manisha Koirala's father, who was a minister in the royal government, has been sacked from Nepali Congress party and will lose his seat in Parliament, which meets on Friday.
Prakash Koirala was Science, Technology and Environment Minister in the handpicked cabinet formed by King Gyanendra after he seized power in February last year.
Nephew of prime minister-designate G P Koirala, Prakash was removed from the party on Wednesday along with another former royalist minister Narayan Singh Pun. Both of them have also been expelled from the party's ordinary membership, party sources said.
The party has taken action against the two members and sentd a letter to Parliament, they said, adding both will lose their seats when Parliament is reinstated on Friday. The speaker was also forced to resign over his 'debatable' conduct during King Gyanendra's government.
Prakash Koirala has established a new party named Nepali Congress (Nationalist) and Pun is the chairman of Nepal Samata Party. Earlier, various students organizations of Nepal called for a boycott of Manisha's films, citing pro-monarch activities.
