Repolling is being held in five polling stations of four constituencies of Assam where an estimated 26 per cent voting was recorded till 12 noon Wednesday.

Election office sources said in Guwahati there was no incident of violence reported from any of the polling stations where repoll is being held.

Repoll is being held in two polling booths of Karimganj (north), Patharkandi, Lahowal and Chabua.

The repoll in Chabua has been ordered after miscreants mishandled the EVM in the middle of voting on April 3 and it failed.

Repoll in polling station number 171 in Karimganj (north) has been forced by an accident where the bus returning with poll materials and officials fell into a ditch.

Repoll in the three other polling stations of Karimganj (north), Lahowal and Patharkandi was due to technical snags developed by EVMs midway through polling.

Polling in 65 out of the 126 constituencies was held on April 3 and an estimated 68 per cent of the total electorate exercised their franchise.
