Going out to bat for the India-United States nuclear deal, US Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice reiterated that it will strengthen international security and non-proliferation, besides advancing America's business opportunities. Nor will it fuel an arms race in the Indian subcontinent, she said.
Presenting her case before the Senate Foreign Relations Committee on Wednesday, she said America's past non-proliferation policies did not achieve their goal as they resulted in a more isolated India.
Will her testimony swing the skeptics of the nuclear deal in US Congress? Or will the Senate and House committees add riders to the deal that will make it ineffective? Do you think the nuclear deal will come about?
