Police will conduct forensic examination of the thumb impressions of Sachin Pahari, the main suspect in the Meher Bhargava murder case, obtained in the prisons where he had been lodged earlier.
Sources in Special Task Force, investigating the sensational case, said the forensic examination would make it clear whether Amit Singh, whose identity is contested, and Pahari were the same person.
Police had earlier claimed that Pahari and Amit Singh were same person and that Pahari, who uses several aliases, had on several occasions used the name of Amit Singh.
The driver of the Bhargava family had said that Sunny Rawat, who confessed to having fired at Meher, but later retracted in the court, was referred to as Amit Singh by his accomplices on February 28 when Meher was shot at in Lucknow.
Pahari had been lodged at jails in Lucknow and Allahabad earlier in connection with other offences.
Meher was shot at by four people when she objected to the passing of some lewd comments at her daughter-in-law on February 28 and she succumbed to her injuries in a Delhi hospital on March 25.
Meanwhile, STF sleuths continued their search for Pahari in hospitals in Lucknow hoping he would be there for treatment after being injured in the encounter with the police on March 29.
Police teams had also been despatched to Pithoragarh in Uttaranchal to trace him, sources said adding, they were trying to procure attachment orders from the court against Pahari.
