In a bid to show their unflinching loyalty to Rahul Gandhi, the young Congress member and the son of Congress President Sonia Gandhi, several youth Congress volunteers today tattooed his name on their hands.
Tamil Nadu Youth Congress President Dr M K Vishnu Prasad, who tattooed Rahul Gandhi's name on his hand, told reporters, "This is to show in body, mind and soul, in our hearts, in our feelings and sentiment that we are under the leadership of Rahul Gandhi, the leader of the youth, in whom the future of the country lies."
I could have been PM at 25: Rahul
A 14-year-old tattooing specialist, Karthik, who administered the subcutaneous design on the hands of Vishnu Prasad, repeatedly looked at a slip of paper, to avoid any spelling error while tattooing.
"Sonia Gandhi is our supreme leader, but Rahul represents emerging youth leadership of the country. That is why we have tattooed his name," he said.
Only two days back, in a similar programme organised at the TNCC headquarters, several Congress workers tattooed TNCC President G K Vasan's name on their hands.
Tattooing was nothing new to political party workers in Tamil Nadu. All India Anna Dravida Munetra Kazhagam founder late M G Ramachandran instructed his partymen to tattoo the party symbol - two leaves - on their hands to show their loyality to the party. Some of them, who have left the party, now, are always seen in full-sleeved shirts to cover up the tattoo.
