President Pervez Musharraf on Sunday said relations between India and Pakistan will not be 'turbulent' in future and are destined to go higher.

"In future, Pakistan-India relations would not turbulent. Bilateral relations would go towards highs," state run APP news agency quoted him as saying.

Responding to a question, he said both India and Pakistan have understood their problems could only be resolved by improving bilateral relations, he said in an interview to PTV. He said talks between India and Pakistan are progressing well and there was need to maintain confidentiality while the process in underway.

The talks are progressing well and 'We are at that stage when we need to move forward on the Kashmir issue', he told Pakistani reporters in New York.

He, however, declined to give details of his talks with Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, saying there is need for confidentiality while the process is underway.

The Pakistani leader had said both he and the Singh had shown sincerity to address outstanding issues between the two countries and that the two leaders were keeping confidentiality so that extremists might not derail the peace process.
