A day after Atal Bihari Vajpayee asserted he had no differences with Bharatiya Janata Party President L K Advani, expelled party leader Madan Lal Khurana met the former Prime Minister on Monday, amid hectic parleys among party leaders to thrash out a solution to the four-day old crisis.

Khurana, who was with Vajpayee for about 40 minutes, did not speak to the waiting media persons.

BJP general secretary Pramod Mahajan, who was present at Vajpayee's residence during the meeting, claimed he was not present during the talks between Khurana and the former prime minister.

The Khurana-Vajpayee meeting was preceded by a meeting senior leaders M Venkaiah Naidu and Jaswant Singh had with Advani. The party's general secretaries and other office bearers are scheduled to meet later on Monday and are expected to thrash out a solution to the crisis sparked off by Vajpayee's public criticism of Khurana's expulsion.

In an apparent hardening of stance on Advani's part, Khurana was served with a formal expulsion order on late Saturday night following which he met Vajpayee on Sunday morning.

However, in surprise remarks in Lucknow on Sunday, Vajpayee recalled his long association with Advani and asserted there were no differences between the two, triggering off speculations of a truce.
