The nearly 20-hour long gun battle between the fidayeen and security forces near the heavily guarded Civil Secretariat building ended late this morning after security forces shot dead the holed-up militant.
In all two fidayeen and a Jammu and Kashmir policeman were killed and three securitymen wounded in the gunfight.
Two suicide attackers made a foiled attempt on Wednesday to storm a security forces camp in the vicinity of the Civil Secretariat, which houses the office of the Jammu and Kashmir chief minister, his cabinet colleagues and top officers.
While one of the militants was shot dead by the security forces, the other was holed-up in a house.
