PM-Hurriyat talks: Don't expect miracles, says Soz

Congress Rajya Sabha member Saifuddin Soz has expressed confidence that talks between Prime Minister Manmohan Singh [ Images ] and the All Parties Hurriyat Conference delegation would have some positive outcome.

Soz, who played a key role in bringing about the talks between the prime minister and the APHC leadership, told Rediff.com over the phone from Srinagar [ Images ] that a lot of hard work had gone behind the scene to turn these talks into a reality.

"Monday's meeting between Dr Singh and the Hurriyat delegation... I hope will be able to break the ice but I must caution that we should not expect miracles and solutions in a single night," he said.

Soz would be flying in to New Delhi [ Images ] later in the afternoon to assist the prime minister and other colleagues in the talks.

On Sunday, Dr Singh was briefed by government interlocutor N N Vohra and other senior government officials as part of the preparations for the meeting.
