In a major haul on Saturday, the Army recovered a cache of arms and explosives, including 54 bombs and 126 grenades, in Tangdhar sector of Kupwara district in Jammu and Kashmir.
The personnel of 12 Kumaon Regiment recovered the weapons in Bandi Ashkot forest near the Line of Control in the north Kashmir district during an anti-militant operation, a Defence Ministry spokesman said.
He said the recoveries include a sniper rifle with a modified magazine, 14 cartridges with booster, three pistols, three rounds, two Pakistan-manufactured pistol magazines, three Chinese-made pistol magazines, 5 kg RDX and PEK, six RPG grenades, 40 unidentified bombs, 40 AGL grenades.
There were also 80 Chinese and Pak-made grenades, 3,080 rounds of AK ammunition, 14 bombs, 50 metres of safety fuse and five detonators and remotes.
All items were serviceable, the spokesman said, adding that the entire haul was destroyed in the operation.
