The Jammu and Kashmir government has speeded up relief and rehabilitation measures in earthquake-hit area of Tangdhar in North Kashmir. In the past 10 days, Rs 16 crore has been disbursed as cash relief to affected families in the sub-division, an official spokesman said on Monday.
The goverment has also provided 12,000 blankets and about 2,500 tents, he said, adding temporary shelters costing Rs 31,000 each will also be constructed to provide shelter to victims from the cold during winter.
He said as many as 2,000 bags of rice containing 50 kgs of rice each and an equal number of sugar bags of 5 kgs each and milk powder provided by the Congress have been distributed free of cost among the affected families.
More rice bags would be distributed free of cost among the remaining families soon, he said.
