The airport in Vishakapatnam, which was closed for over a fortnight following heavy rains and water logging, reopened Friday, but only a couple of flights could be operated.
The Indian Airlines operated its flight from Delhi-Chennai-Vizag and Vizag Chennai-Delhi. It reached Vizag in the afternoon, airport sources said.
The Deccan Airlines, however, could not land as there were showers in the morning and airport authorities did not give permission to land. After encircling in the air for sometime, it went back to Hyderabad, they said.
The impact of cyclone had its effect on Vizag. There was heavy down pour in the evening and 3 cm of rainfall recorded in the airport and 5 cm recorded in the city.
