The hardline faction of Hurriyat Conference headed by Syed Ali Shah Geelani suffered yet another jolt Friday when the Peoples' League announced its disassociation from it.

The decision to sever ties was taken unanimously at a meeting of the Peoples' League in Srinagar Thursday, a spokesman of the party told PTI indicating that they would join hands with the moderate faction of Hurriyat led by Mirwaiz Umer Farooq.

Peoples League led by Sheikh Abdul Aziz, who was arrested two years ago on hawala charges, is the fourth organisation after Jammu and Kashmir National Front, Peoples' Conference and Anjuman-e-Sharie Shain to leave the Geelani faction since July.

The spokesman of the League said the party was in favour of a peaceful resolution of the Kashmir issue and would continue to struggle for it peacefully.
